We’re only happy when you are. So it is particularly pleasing when we hear from our clients.
I had always wanted a website to showcase my personal marine conservation work. It was Steve that pushed me to create my own site and I could not be more grateful. He helped me design something allows me to share my research and photography in a fun and engaging way with my followers.
The best thing about my site is that he really took the time to get to know me, so my site is both tastefully designed and really reflects my personality. Steve also knows that I am short on time, he designed my site to be easy to use and easy for me to maintain.
Honestly I could not be happier with what he has created for me. I cannot believe that I did not make a website earlier!"
Steve played an integral part in developing the branding for the inaugural Collingwood’s Winter Wonderland festival. From initial ideas to imagery, photos to finished creative, Steve provided turnkey, strategic and responsive solutions that have set a new creative standard.
It was an absolute pleasure working with Steve. He works quickly and efficiently, and created a gorgeous, functional website for the Marine Megafauna Foundation. He was excellent at managing the process, from initial design and development right through to the launch. At all stages we received clear updates and feedback. I thoroughly recommend the Steve Roper Group's web design and online marketing services as a brilliant partner in creating an online presence.
Steve possesses a broad skill set and while focused on marketing and business development, his contribution is rounded out with a sound financial understanding of non-profit sector challenges.
Steve recognizes that there is often resistance at the board level to new ideas and he is not reluctant to push for growth with reasonable budget requirements, backed by a belief in his abilities to deliver results.
Steve also works within and around the limitations of our staff time and technical competency in the organization, teaching them and providing us documentation to make our day-to-day work more efficient and puts the effort into creating processes that can be maintained with relative ease.
We value Steve’s contribution and dedication to Craigdaroch Castle.
After ten long years in conservation I finally feel like MMF has a website that showcases the work that we do in a beautiful and dynamic way! As a full time field researcher I sometimes find it hard to stay connected with the public and disseminate the full scope of our findings in an interesting and timely fashion. Steve Roper has revolutionized our ability to do this, allowing us to highlight our long-term programs and keep our fans up to date with our current projects. They have been overwhelmingly sensitive to our needs as researchers making sure that the content is both factually accurate and interesting to a wider audience. They have also managed to capture the true heart of our work across the globe with
imagery that speaks to the importance of our cause.
Thanks for your patience and dedication, we are so proud of the result!
Having known Steve Roper for over 30 years, I know that as a Creative Director, he ensures that every account is handled with an admirable, professional expertise. I expect nothing less from my old friend and colleague because he has so much passion and enthusiasm for each project that the entire creative process becomes tremendously exciting to watch as each new step unfolds. Everything is clearly explained with upfront honesty and complete integrity, so that a relaxed rapport exists and all concerns can be addressed. The end result is the delight of seeing what was once just a concept become a reality which far surpasses what one originally imagined or even hoped for. All this, AND deadlines met!
Complete respect and true satisfaction are the outcome of working with Steve because he understands the importance of making his clients’ visions reach their target audience and he consistently delivers that with reliability and savoir faire.
Steve is such a great guy and does such superb work that he deserves better words than I can write.
People like Steve make the world a better place.
The reason I and the staff of Angel continue to work closely with Steve at Steve Roper, is the dedication he shows at every level of website planning and execution. 2 years ago we embarked on a new website plan and I had some trepidations as to the amount of time we would have to spend to make this work.
After establishing a scope of work I was extremely impressed as to how easy Steve made it all work and his attention to detail. If we were to start again, I would choose Steve, but luckily we are not starting again and we will continue to have Steve manage the process of making our website the "face" of Angel on the web. Steve brought us fresh ideas, easy to manage site maps and a look we are proud to display.
I highly recommend Steve Roper Group to anyone who wants a great, user friendly website, and a comfortable process getting there!
As an independent Ship’s Agency and Customs Brokerage firm we recognized the need to improve our on-line presence, and to provide a better information portal for our clients.
In just one meeting, Steve was able to take our fledgling ideas and quickly provide a concept for our new site. Working with him over the course of the project was enjoyable and enlightening, and the finished product succeeds beyond our expectations. Beyond the design, Steve’s understanding of website analytics, and his drive to continuously improve results is a huge added benefit.
In conjunction with the new website we also asked Steve to help us develop a corporate brand or identity. As a 100 year old company, we felt it was time to reassess our image, and to project a more modern look for more modern times. The time and effort, along with the attention to detail, that Steve provided culminated in a comprehensive new look for our company involving logos, letterhead, and business cards.
We are now working with Steve as we venture into print advertising, and again, we are extremely pleased with his concepts and approach. This is a new frontier for our business, but we have no doubt that Steve’s skills in marketing will definitely benefit our company.
Steve has given our business an opportunity to grow and to reach new markets. We look forward to a long and successful working relationship with the Steve Roper Group in the coming years.
"Steve Roper was the creative mind behind the redevelopment of the Craigdarroch Castle Historic Society website. I was a member of the board and Chaired the Development Committee for that organization. While I oversaw a major documentary on the castle, Steve was undertaking a total rework of the website which added tremendous functionality for marketing, community relations and the posting of public information. Steve is hard working and resourceful and I strongly endorse his work ethic and product performance."
I had the pleasure of working along side of Steve while in Belize during the complete renovation of the Roberts Grove Marina and Dive Center. It was then that I witnessed his talent and true attention to detail. Having lost touch for several years and then re acquainting on Facebook I asked him to evaluate my web page www.coibadivecenter.com Since having that done and making the changes that Steve suggested our web presence has increased tremendously. He speaks in simple terms and more importantly with your business in mind. This was not a generic report. it was all about us.
I first met Steve when he was introduced to the Ogden Point Enhancement Society (OPES) as a potential Director in 2007, a nomination which was quickly accepted. Over the past seven years on the board together, Steve was instrumental in developing and creating our initial website and the beautiful Interpretive Signage Kiosk the OPES spearheaded at the Ogden Point Deep Sea Facility.
He showed the board how to gauge analytics from the website and the importance of online marketing initiatives over the coming years and in 2013, re-developed our website into a wonderful, completely mobile online presence which now includes Victoria’s first Walking App.
He maintains a strong presence as a board member with valuable contributions regarding marketing and online strategies. The Ogden Point Deep Sea Facility is visited by up to a million visitors annually and they have enjoyed his many contributions that enhance the facility.
Steve and his team provided Talking Oceans Foundation with a really professional website, expertly integrating our ideas and goals with his own creativity and experience. We are happy customers!

Campaign: Chrysler PT Cruiser Handraiser Program
Creative Director: Steve Roper. Copywriter: Matthew Daley
Few brands push the envelope of conventional design quite like Chrysler. When the company launched the daring and innovative PT Cruiser, it was immediately apparent that the proverbial envelope hadn’t just been pushed - it had been torn to pieces.
In the nine months leading up to the May launch, Steve Roper and Matt Daley, created a campaign to attract prospects. Using simple and cool images, the company promoted the PT Cruiser on billboard and transit ads, in magazines and on Web banners, gradually building excitement.
All the advertising included a call-to-action, either a 1-877 number or Web addresses - www.waycoolcar.com - that cemented the brand’s identity. These efforts built a strong database of “handraisers”, who were then targeted with a three-phase direct mail effort.
The first mailing, using a large exclamation mark, emphasized the fun aspect of the car. The second included exclusive information to keep prospects interested, and the third - which included a PT Cruiser key ring - invited customers to take a test drive. The key was to make recipients feel as if they were part of something exclusive and special.
The program attracted the right target - young, urban and hip - as conceived by Steve Roper, Matt Daley and Jeff Kess, giving the brand a certain cachet with a traditionally atypical Chrysler audience'.
We have been working with Steve Roper for almost a year now and have seen a huge upturn in business since he re-designed our website.
He speaks Computer speak English (well Canadian actually) to us in sentences and uses phrases that we can understand. We can see why something works and how well it is working.
Because of Steve's input, we are well followed on Facebook, Google, LinkedIn and some other sites that seem to pop up every now and then.
Our investment has been rewarded by a substantial increase in business for which we are thankful.
We will continue to use the Steve Roper Group for all of our on-line marketing.
My understanding of the time and creative skills required to design and build an effective website - one that is visually appealing and delivers measurable results - is maturing.
I appreciate now that you are a partner in my small business undertaking; that your skills are indispensable to our longer term success. No small business, especially a niche market web based one like ours is likely to flourish without the kind of meticulous attention you bring to site development and performance metrics.
Thanks for all your good work. I look forward to our continued partnership.
This is just a brief note to thank you for your dedication to The Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum Society over the last year.
When you undertook the work on our first ever DVD it was immediately evident that the process was going to be easy for an inexperienced person like me to follow. Your preparation, requests for information and proofs was very well planed as were the meetings we had. It was great to be able to meet the timeline you set without needing hours and hours of meetings. You knew what you needed and asked for it then in short order provided results to be proofed.
One unexpected benefit to working with you was the way you looked at the “big picture” when you took on the DVD. Drawing my attention to ways to build more sales by using the special insert booklet you designed was an excellent idea! The DVD is one of our best sellers and the booklet proved to be an immediate success by generating many additional sales as a stand-alone product.
Thanks for your hard work and I’m looking forward to the coming year as we work together developing the marketing value of Craigdarroch Castle’s website.
Hey Steve, you're a genius!
I am writing to say how delighted we are with the marketing tools and web site you created for the Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary. Working with Steve Roper was a positive experience from start to finish. The re-design of our organization’s logo and stationary began the process, and set the stage for the new look and feel of the web site. All of the new design elements were skillfully incorporated into a very welcoming and visuallyintegrated visitor experience on the web site. That, combined with a substantial increase in search engine presence, has significantly raised our profile in the community, which is already being reflected in an increase of donations coming in. The ease of updating the page content was incorporated into the design as we requested, and that will allow us to maintain fresh and current content to keep the visitor’s interest. We look forward to working with you on other projects in the future.
I have been working with Steve for almost a year. We started working together when I was in a major transition with SEO and Website suppliers. He has been so easy to work with and flexible to accommodate my sometimes urgent needs. He has explained some very complicated Web concepts in an easily understood manner and is happy to take me step by step through the process. He is very understanding of time sensitive issues surrounding my reporting needs. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is very knowledgeable and great to work with – he has been an invaluable asset to my organization.
Steve is without a doubt the most enjoyable person to work with on a project. He views ideas from angles most people wouldn’t even know are there. He is hard working and reliable. Given the industry that I work in, most of the projects I encounter are very time sensitive. Steve has always been able to take on the responsibility and deliver on time. When it comes to graphic design and overall website management, Steve is second to none.
Steve has been a great help getting my business off the ground. He went way beyond the call of duty with really quick turn around, good advice at every stage of the project, and great execution. Since our website went live I've had really positive feedback from lots of people on its clean look and easy navigation. The data collection systems that Steve set up are proving that people are visiting the site and spending time while they are there. Steve also provided lots of unexpected extra help along the way - things like improving the graphic design on our twitter and facebook sites and working directly with printers so that orders were finished properly.
One of the things that impressed me most was the timeliness of completion of work. To be honest, I had trouble keeping up sometimes! I'm looking forward to working more with Steve Roper in the future.
While working as a commercial photographer in the U.S. and Canada for the past 25 years, I’ve worked with many creative directors.
Steve Roper is unique. His formidable vision and creative talent is driven by a passionate, fun loving and high-energy approach to his work.
The result: Award winning projects that are a blast to work on!
My only complaint is that I don’t get to work with Steve more often.
I had the opportunity to visit and dive the second largest barrier reef in the world in southern Belize led by Steve Roper. Along on this trip were several members of the Board of Directors of the World Wildlife Fund.
During the trip out, Steve explained in great detail the wonders of the barrier reef system and the need for people to respect and protect this wonderful resource of ours. He carefully explained the dive to us and led us along a remarkable visit. I happen to recall his charm when he commented on how good a diver I was. He made us all feel at ease.
His commitment to our oceans impressed me as he outlined his vision to reduce commercial fishing vessels and install moorings along the barrier reef to preserve this pristine environment, a vision I share. I am pleased that he is continuing to contribute and promote awareness, knowledge and insight into ways others can protect our oceans at Ocean's Edge.
Keep up the good work, Steve.
I had the pleasure of working with Steve early in my career and still reap the benefits of our partnership to this day. Steve has a natural ablity to see the picture within the picture; the bigger story captured in a still photo or richly textured film. That ablity and vision is consistently transformed into communications that reach and touch audiences.
Steve is a natural leader with the good sense to let his team explore an opportunity to its fullest and the creative direction to pull back and stay on target during the manic journey from concept to execution.
My only regret about my experience working with Steve is that I did not have the opportunity to work with him longer.
As Chief Technology Officer, I have had the opportunity to work on a large scale web site re-design with Steve Roper.
This project was quite sophisticated and 'our' staff included nine programmers, six web designers, two Search Engine Optimization associates, perhaps a dozen copywriters, of which Steve edited and, of course, equity partners.
Steve's vision of the end result was consistent and his leadership resulted in achieving a successful launch of a newly branded web site for a company with almost a billion dollars in annual sales.
As both a Marketing and Creative Director, it was a pleasure to work with Steve Roper and I would highly recommend him.
It was my privilege to have worked with Stephen Roper when I was General Manager of BBDO Canada’s dedicated automotive unit (then named PentaMark Worldwide Canada).
To put things in perspective: In late 1999, BBDO Worldwide acquired Ross Roy Communications (subsequently and temporarily re-branded as InterOne Marketing Group), and I was seconded to integrate the communications activities of both agencies, to best serve all of the business intelligence, strategic planning, creative development and media channel deployments for our client, Daimler Chrysler Canada.
Mr. Roper was Acting Creative Director at InterOne Marketing at the time, and his experience in multi-channel communications, combined with a visceral appreciation for client relations and consumer ‘triggers’ made him a highly valued member of the team, as we endeavored to build the first truly integrated, multi-disciplinary communications services consultancy in the Canadian industry. Without his help, we could not have made that happen.
Most importantly, he was eminently successful in delivering results.
In addition to raising our creative standards, he engineered one of the most well recognized new vehicle launch efforts in the history of Canadian automotive marketing… the 2000 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
Steve oversaw every element of the pre-launch activities. In the early days of internet marketing (1999), his wild-postings (dedicated ‘funky url’s) and on-street vehicle displays, drove more that 650,000 online requests for information prior to product launch… a resounding success, even in today’s terms… which was further enhanced by dealer events (tail-gate parties) that zeroed in on target, while demonstrating product versatilities.
As one might gather, I have great respect for, and confidence in, Mr. Roper’s craftsmanship and marketing savvy. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a valued addition to any team, in meeting any challenge that requires excellence.
I would be pleased to handle any and all enquiries about Steve. He is, without doubt, a credit to our craft.
As the Executive Director of the Port Angeles Tourism & Convention Center, I represent an entire region of Washington State.
I have had the pleasure to work with Steve Roper on the development of our 'You can see it from here' national advertising campaign.
Steve creativity and professionalism helped us create an image which increased visitation to the region by 19% in one year.
I recommend Steve Roper.
As the Director of Public Relations at Henry Birks & Sons, I can say that I have been singularly impressed bySteve Roper's intuitive ability to understand the needs of his clients.
In establishing my department, I found Steve an invaluable help in getting us started on the right foot with creative materials which captured the upscale image necessary for our company.
He possess the rare ability to perceive the needs of a client, to create and design AND to manage the project through to the complete satisfaction of a client.
I cannot think of a Creative Director I would recommend more than Steve.
I have had the opportunity to work with Steve Roper on the development of several advertising programs, marketing projects and promotional activities.
The level and standard of Steve's skills are very professional and I am always amazed to see the balance between his creative ability and his strategic mind.
As a marketing man, his concerns with reaching goals has reflected excellence in his communications process.
Steve, You are not the sort who might get a paper plane to fly... you are the one who would go out there and promote an ecologically friendly plane off the ground! You will always find a way to make it better than was asked for... take things to a level so everyone benefits. Never lose that way of thinking!
I met Steve back in 1984. I didn’t know it then but it was to be a turning point in my life.
To be an 18 year old kid and consider Steve to be my first real, and most significant mentor is a statement in itself. Saying the same thing in hindsight over 30 years later, however, is actually saying something.
It’s unusual that such a statement can hold true for so many years, but the ripples that permeate my life always return to that moment of contact.
Steve is and always has been many things to me:
Fresh, youthful and as exuberant as a newborn. Passionate, caring and always attentive to the minutest of details. Street smart, knowledgeable and successful in the myriad ways of business, creativity and experience. Steve is at once a live wire and the tip of the iceberg.
I consider myself a lucky man to have had him as my mentor and I know that he continues to pass on his boundless positive influence to others much more worthy than I. That is very good news. Because of Steve, I live in a world where to lead by example, to be true in deeds and in actions, is always the only course of action.
Thank you Steve -- Don’t ever change!
Steve Roper's work with Aviawest allows us to recommend his skills as a Creative Director. His keen eye and attention to detail conceptualize consistent well branded materials.
He is very organized and has the ability to work on many projects simultaneously.
Steve managed a team of designers, programmers and a variety of others and he was well respected.
He is dependable, hardworking, conscientious and has valuable experience in this field.
Steve helped create my website when I decided to go out on my own as an independent environmental consultant. I felt it was important for me and my company to have a blend of professionalism coupled with the focus on environmental protection and customer service.
Steve was able to create this mix of different concepts in the web site that he created for my company without losing the message that I wanted to portray to my clients and potential clients. Steve’s knowledge of marketing and creating web pages made the task of creating my web site relatively painless and I found his input to the project invaluable.
I do not hesitate to recommend Steve for the task that you have required of him. His in depth experience with respect to marketing and his creativity will ensure that your end product is one you can be proud of.
When we decided it was time for a re-branding of our web site, we chose Steve's services.
His professionalism and attention to detail allowed us to re-brand ourselves. He created and designed a contemporary web site, which reflects the credibility we were in search of.
Furthermore, the overall search engine results page ranking of our web site has risen, our bounce rate has decreased positively and leads being generated through the web site have increased... an all-important necessity to our Real Estate Firm.
We would not hesitate to recommend Steve Roper as a strategic Creative Marketing Internet Professional.
Steve, I have just finished reviewing your most recent marketing initiative and I have never seen a document as well out together in all of my 62 years. In fact I have never seen an approach as innovative as this. It is excellent !
It is, quite frankly, fantastic.
I cannot imagine what you can possibly think of next.
I trust you realize we are ALL impressed.
Steve worked with us for a full year establishing the branding for The Royal Naval Dockyard as a marketable tourist destination.
He not only succeeded in doing this but also allowed us to make many other considerations due to his technical skills and inherent understanding in printing.
Steve’s ability to take an idea to it’s fullest extent while maintaining the parameters established by an organization will certainly give his clients that all important value for money spent with the maximum creativity.
You have helped government to define its message to the community and, in so doing, members of the community have responded and agreed to lend their expertise and support to helping government realize its objectives in respect to the Commission on Competitiveness.
I fully appreciate that a great deal of effort has gone into this contribution and want you to know these efforts have not gone unnoticed; indeed, they have been greatly appreciated by the Government
We first met Steve Roper in early 1983, during the conception of one of his projects being produced by O'Keefe Printing.
Mr. Roper was the first Creative Director in Montreal to recognize the benefits of working within the printing industry.
A man with insatiable curiousity, we watched him become successful directing outstanding projects for several blue chip companies within the Montreal area and beyond.
His reputation for creating and delivering projects of excellence is well respected and we recommend him as a individual creative talent with business skills, people skills and a pile of ambition.
