Conservation
Conservation means different things to different people. I believe that everyone can do their piece but my
prevailing interests have always been the ocean. I have been interested in the water since I was a child and
hold a Master Scuba Diver Trainer certifation from PADI, so, the basic conservation issues I write about on this
site generally pertain to the ocean and it's environment, however, in recent years those interests have expanded
to terrestrial conservation considerably as my scuba teaching days have taken a back seat to marketing work.
On the pages within this section, I have made efforts to add information which is of interest to me and hopefully,
to you as well. Enjoy...
Ogden Point Enhancement Society
The Ogden Point Enhancement Society is committed to the continued beautification of what many consider
to be one of the most ecologically abundant dive sites in North America as well as the most beautiful place to
dock a cruise ship in Canada - the Ogden Point Breakwater and Terminal. The Ogden Point Enhancement
Society was established in 1996 to beautify the Ogden Point area and create public space.
We recently completed a twelve panel series of ecological interpretive sgnage at Ogden Point on Vancouver
Island and you can see those here >
Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary
Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary is a wild oasis in the heart of the urban landscape and includes two distinct ecosystems: the beautiful marshland of Swan Lake and the spectacular Garry oak meadow on Christmas Hill. Both are home to an incredible array of native plants and wild animals.
The Sanctuary is a living classroom fostering an understanding and appreciation of nature through direct experiences. Educational programs for all ages encourage responsibility for the care and protection of the natural environment. Managed by a non-profit society, this urban refuge provides an exceptional opportunity to bring people and nature together.
We have recently completed their new web site which you should take a look through here >
