Travel and Photography

For the past thirty years,
we have been traveling and
photographing our travels.

Here’s a little background
behind the beginning of
those travels.

Enjoy.

Travel & Photography
I have been traveling for almost as long as I can remember now…

As a child, the travels may have been the woods surrounding our home but I knew every path through those woods like the back of my hand. As a teenager, Prince Edward Island was my first big trip and then I was hooked.

While in College, I charted an entire plane and took 64 students to Florida for three weeks and toured the Florida Keys and the Everglades.

After completing college, I left for a five month trip in an MG Midget I had been restoring for a few years, which started in Montreal and took me up above Lake Superior to the Canadian Prairies and on through The Canadian Rockies to Vancouver and then down the coast through Washington, Oregon, California and into Mexico before heading back through Arizona, stopping at the Grand Canyon and on to New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio before crossing back over into Canada at Niagara Falls.

In the 1980’s my first trip to Cancun, Mexico opened my eyes to real snorkeling and I began diving at Isla Mujeres. The next trip was back to The Florida Keys and then off to Jamaica for a month before relocating to St. Martin for eighteen months, while doing stories on St. Barths, Saba, St. Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla before returning to Montreal. By now, I was an advanced open water diver.

In 1987, I purchased Blue Grace, a 37 First Beneteau and headed down to The Florida Keys once again to get a Bareboat Chartering Certification.

The 1990’s began with a nine month trip on Blue Grace which took me down the Hudson River, past New York City and out into the ocean, before heading up to The Chesapeake Bay, through Norfolk to Pamlico Sound and Charleston and then through the Outer Islands of the Georgia Coast before heading in at St. Augustine and down to Stuart Florida for a month long navigation course.

From there, the next stop was The Bahamas and then on to Bermuda, where I stayed working for two years creating promotional work for the Department of Tourism.

I returned home to Montreal and settled into a Creative Director’s position while visiting British Columbia and The Cayman Islands before heading off to Windsor, Ontario to take over as Associate Creative Director for Chrysler Canada / BBDO.

In 1999, Yim and I visited Belize and purchased two acres of beachfront property and relocated to Victoria on Vancouver Island while building our first beach house in Belize and in late 2000, began a seventeen day road trip to our new home on the coats of Belize, where we stayed for almost four years teaching scuba diving and running a 32 room resort.

In 2004, we relocated to Montreal once again to do work with Doctors Without Borders, Habitat For Humanity and several other non-profit organizations, We visited the British Virgin Islands during this period and flew to Fiji, where I had been offered an opportunity to run a dive operation and moved back to Vancouver Island in 2006, where we are today.

We’ve spent a lot of time touring this amazing Island the past five years and have not even scratched the surface of places to visit. We’ve featured a few of our favourites on this site and written about many others on our Blog.

We also visited Kauai this year. You can read more here >

The purpose of this part of my web site is mostly as a way to write my stories and slowly develop our own Travel Tour part of the business. I hope you enjoy everything I’ve written and photographed.
